Gerald Kelly - Vote for Lakenheath

Elections for District Councillor are on 4th May . Last time they were held only one in four voted – this time around those who don’t have a postal vote will have to have photo ID with them. So many will probably think “why bother?” and some will say it won’t make any difference; but it does!

We deserve better than just more of the same; we need a Councillor who plays an active part in community life and is prepared to work for a better, sustainable Lakenheath and surrounding area. This time it’s a simple choice about deciding which individual can demonstrate their commitment and effort to improving our community.

My track record as a Lakenheath Parish Councillor and for the last year as Chair is clear, and my main reason for standing is to make sure that we can progress and share what we have started. The two big projects – Regenerating High St and the Neighbourhood Plan – are well on the way and residents will be able to have their say on them shortly. Lakenheath and Eriswell share an (excellent) Parish Clerk, and we have been working together on noise and traffic issues. We need to involve Elveden, and Undley and Sedge Fen, in that working together much more than in the past.

The new Draft High Street Masterplan is now available. A lot of work has gone into the creation of this plan, including the efforts of all the people who filled in the village survey. We've listened, consulted and now have a plan to guide us moving forward to make Lakenheath the place we all want it to be.

Following the merger (takeover) of St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath, a group of the former Forest Heath Parish and District Councillors has been formed to address some of the issues. Unfortunately, neither of our Conservative Councillors has joined in.

Lakenheath is the biggest Ward in Suffolk, so rather than banging on doors, I have the website geraldkelly.uk or you can leave me a
