I was born in Suffolk and
moved to Lakenheath some twenty years ago. After a
varied early career, I worked in the NHS with roles including emergency
planning and project management. There I learned how to work my way
around bureaucracies in order to solve problems. One of my successes
while at West Suffolk Hospital was to set up a scheme where US Airforce
doctors based at RAF Lakenheath now work free of cost for the NHS.
We enjoy living in Lakenheath; we’re so lucky to be part of such a
thriving community, and to enjoy amenities like the shops, library and
post office that so many other villages have lost in recent years. I
treasure the rural nature of the area and the beautiful countryside
that surrounds us. As a grandfather, I’m acutely aware that communities
like ours can only be sustained if younger people have the opportunity
to live, work and raise their own families within them. That is why I
have been persuaded to stand as an independent candidate in the
election on 4th May for Lakenheath on West Suffolk District Council.
